Who it is for

Who Uses EICRA’s Content Moderation Services?

Four kinds of operator arrive here with four different queues. Each block names what that buyer receives, so the fit is clear before a call.

Marketplaces and Classifieds Operators

Listings checked before or after they go live, so scam adverts, prohibited items and duplicate sellers are removed while legitimate sellers keep trading.

  • Listing review against your prohibited-items and pricing-abuse rules
  • Seller profile and duplicate-account checks on the signals you define
  • Buyer and seller review moderation with a reason logged for every removal

Community, Forum and Gaming Operators

Comment threads, chat and player behaviour moderated under your community guidelines, with repeat offenders escalated rather than silently banned.

  • Comment and chat review for harassment, threats and spam in Bangla and English
  • Account-level escalation when the same user crosses the line again
  • A community-facing reason for every action, written in your tone

Publishers and Educational Platforms

Reader comments and learner forums kept safe for a mixed or young audience, with sensitive categories routed to your team instead of decided alone.

  • Comment moderation under a stricter policy tier for pages aimed at minors
  • Image and video screening before publication where your workflow allows
  • Immediate escalation of safety-critical content to a contact you name

Brands Monitoring Bangla Social Media

Mentions of your brand on social platforms read in Bangla, English and the mixed script people actually type, with complaints, scams and impersonation sorted from noise.

  • Mention triage into complaint, question, scam or impersonation
  • Suggested replies drafted in your voice for your team to approve
  • A weekly summary of recurring complaint themes, stated qualitatively

Scope

What Does the Moderation Service Include?

Six deliverables that start once your policy is written down. Take them as one managed queue, or take policy design and the quality review as a defined one-off engagement.

01

User-Generated Content Review

Comments, reviews, forum posts and messages read in full and decided against the policy clause that applies, so each removal, approval or edit has a stated reason rather than a gut call.

02

Image and Video Screening

Uploaded images and short video checked for nudity, violence, prohibited goods and brand misuse under your definitions, with borderline items held for your decision instead of guessed.

03

Listing and Profile Moderation

Marketplace listings, seller profiles and user accounts reviewed for prohibited items, scam patterns, impersonation and duplicate identities, using the signals you tell us matter on your platform.

04

Social Media Mention Monitoring

Brand mentions on public social platforms read in Bangla, English and mixed script, triaged into complaint, question, scam or impersonation, and handed to your team with a suggested reply.

05

Moderation Policy Design

Your community guidelines turned into a written decision policy: harm categories, examples in both languages, the action for each tier and the cases that must always escalate to you.

06

Decision Log and Quality Review

Every action recorded with item, clause, moderator and timestamp; a second moderator reviews a sample each period and the disagreements are reported, not hidden.

Also covered. AI pre-flagging configured on your tooling or ours, so human time goes to the items a model cannot settle.

Also covered. User-report (reactive) queues worked alongside proactive review, with the report button’s output triaged on the same policy.

Also covered. Draft statements of reasons and appeal responses prepared for your team to issue to affected users.

Not covered. Legal determinations of illegality, law-enforcement liaison and final decisions on account termination, which stay with your own legal and trust-and-safety owners.

Process

From Policy Draft to First Live Queue

Moderation starts only when the policy is written, agreed and tested. Each step hands a defined output to the next, and the moderator who reviews quality is never the moderator who made the decision.

Scope the Queues and Languages

We list every content type, surface and language you need covered, the coverage window your users require and the tooling the queue will run in, whether yours or a client-approved alternative.

You receive: written scope

Write or Adopt the Decision Policy

Your community guidelines become a decision policy with harm categories, bilingual examples, the action for each tier and the cases that always escalate. Where you already have one, we adopt it as written.

You receive: decision policy

Calibrate on a Sample Set

Moderators decide a sample of your real historical items; you review the decisions and we record every disagreement as a policy clarification before a single live item is touched.

You receive: calibration notes

Open the Live Queue

AI pre-flags where configured, a named moderator decides each item against the policy, and every action is logged with its clause. Anything outside the policy goes to your escalation contact, not to a guess.

You receive: decision log

Review Quality and Update the Policy

A second moderator samples decisions each period, disagreements are reported, and clarifications you give are written into the policy with the date they took effect, so the next period is decided on the current rules.

You receive: quality review

AI and human review

How Do AI Flags and Human Decisions Fit Together?

A model sorts, a person decides. Classifiers on your tooling or ours flag likely violations and route them to a queue, and a named moderator makes the decision that is logged. The pattern is the same human-in-the-loop review EICRA applies to other AI workflows, so a false positive is corrected by a person, not published by a machine.

Pre-flagging Text, image and video classifiers mark likely violations and the probable harm category, so the queue is ordered by risk rather than by arrival time.
Human decision Every removal, approval, edit or escalation is made by a moderator who reads the item in its language and context and records the policy clause applied.
User reports Items flagged by your users through a report button enter the same queue and are decided on the same policy, so reactive and proactive review do not diverge.
Escalation Anything the policy does not cover, and anything safety-critical, goes to the contact you name with the question we need answered, before any action is taken.
Model feedback Human decisions that disagree with the classifier are collected and handed back to your model owners or to EICRA’s AI model testing team as evaluation data.
Audit trail Flag, decision, clause, moderator and timestamp are stored together, so a single item’s history can be reconstructed when a user appeals or a regulator asks.

Rules and accountability

Which Rules Shape Moderation Decisions?

Three sources of rules sit behind every queue: your own policy, the platform regulation your users fall under, and data-protection law. The table names each one, what it means for the queue, and where EICRA’s work stops and your legal owner’s begins.

Rule source What it means for the queue Where EICRA stops
Your decision policy The written policy agreed at onboarding is the only basis for an action. Clarifications you give are dated and added, so a decision can always be traced to the clause in force that day. Nowhere: applying your policy is the core of the service.
Notice and action The EU Digital Services Act requires hosting services to run a notice-and-action mechanism and to give affected users a statement of reasons for each restriction. We work the notice queue and draft the statements for your team to issue. Whether your service is in scope, and the final wording issued, sit with your legal owner.
Transparency reporting Providers in scope publish periodic reports on moderation activity, including the qualifications and language expertise of their moderation teams, as the European Commission explains. Our decision log is kept in the structure that report needs. We supply the figures and team description; you publish the report.
Data protection Moderators see personal data in the content they review. A data processing agreement in the form Article 28 of the GDPR expects, or its local equivalent, is signed before access, and content is reviewed inside your tooling, not copied to ours. You remain the controller; we act only on your documented instructions.
Why this boundary helps you. Because EICRA applies your policy rather than writing the law into it, your legal owner keeps control of what counts as illegal, while the queue, the log and the draft statements of reasons are ready when that owner needs them.

Why EICRA

Four Commitments in Every Moderation Engagement

Outsourced moderation fails in predictable ways: decisions drift from the policy, nobody can explain a removal, the moderators who learned your community rotate out, and user content ends up on the provider’s servers. Each commitment below closes one of those failures.

Your Policy, Applied as Written

Moderators act on the policy you approved and on nothing else. A case the policy does not cover is escalated with a question, and your answer becomes a dated clause, so the policy grows from your decisions rather than ours.

A Reason Behind Every Action

No item is removed, approved or edited without the clause applied and the moderator’s name recorded. That log is what answers a user’s appeal, a quality reviewer’s challenge or a regulator’s request months later.

The Same Moderators on Your Queue

A named team learns your community, your slang and your repeat offenders, and a change of staff is notified before it happens. Continuity is written into the scope letter, not left to a rota.

Your Tooling, Your Data, Written Scope

Review happens inside your moderation tooling or a client-approved queue, with least-privilege access that is removed at handover. NDA and DPA are signed first, and the scope letter names the queues, languages and coverage window.

FAQs

How Do Buyers Vet an Outsourced Moderation Team?

By asking the ten questions below. Cost is first, because it is the question every enquiry opens with.

How much does outsourced content moderation cost?

Moderation is $1,950 per moderator per month, or $1,850 each for five or more, with a three-month minimum, after a $1,500 two-week pilot. One-off work such as policy design or a quality review is a fixed fee. The number of moderators depends on content types, languages, the coverage window your users need and whether a backlog has to be cleared first.

Who decides what gets removed, EICRA or our policy?

Your policy decides. Moderators apply the written decision policy you approved and record the clause behind each action. A case the policy does not cover is escalated to your named contact with a question, and your answer is added as a dated clause, so EICRA never sets the rules on your behalf.

Which content types and languages do you moderate?

Comments, reviews, forum posts, chat, marketplace listings, user profiles, images and short video, in Bangla, English and the mixed script people actually type online. Other languages are agreed case by case in the scope letter rather than claimed in general, so you know before signing which queues are covered.

How do AI tools and human moderators work together?

Classifiers on your tooling or ours flag likely violations and order the queue by risk; a named moderator then reads each flagged item in context and makes the decision that is logged. Human decisions that disagree with the classifier are collected and handed back as evaluation data, so the model improves and a false positive is never published.

What happens after we enquire?

A scoping call first, then the policy, then a calibration round. In order:

  1. You send your community guidelines, a sample of recent items and the surfaces you need covered.
  2. We hold a scoping call and send a written scope naming the queues, languages, tooling and coverage window.
  3. NDA and DPA are signed, and you grant named, least-privilege access to your moderation tooling.
  4. Moderators calibrate on historical items, you review the decisions, and the live queue opens on the agreed date.
How is user data handled during moderation?

Content is reviewed inside your own moderation tooling or a client-approved queue; nothing is copied to EICRA’s servers. Only the named moderators on your engagement have access, it is least-privilege, and it is removed at handover. An NDA and a data processing agreement are signed before any queue is opened, with GDPR transfer terms where your regulator expects them.

Can you support DSA statements of reasons and transparency reports?

We draft statements of reasons for each restriction from the decision log, in the structure the Digital Services Act describes, for your team to review and issue, and we keep the log in a form your transparency report can draw on. Whether your service is in scope, and the final wording published, remain decisions for your legal owner.

How quickly are flagged items reviewed?

Within the coverage window and the turnaround agreed in the scope letter, which depend on your content types, volume and the hours your users are active. Safety-critical categories you define are escalated immediately to your named contact. We state the window in writing at onboarding rather than quoting a number here that may not fit your platform.

How do we switch from our current moderation provider?

Nothing is migrated, because the queue already sits in your own tooling. The handover runs in this order:

  1. You share the current policy, the last period’s decision log and the open escalations.
  2. We review that period, list the policy gaps we find and confirm the decision policy with you in writing.
  3. Our moderators calibrate on recent items while the previous provider still works the live queue.
  4. You remove the previous provider’s access and the live queue opens on the agreed date.
What does the content moderation service not include?

We do not make legal determinations of illegality, liaise with law enforcement, issue the final decision on account termination or publish your transparency report, because those sit with your own legal and trust-and-safety owners. We also do not run a live dashboard: queue summaries follow the reporting period agreed in the scope letter.
